Celebrating Bodhi Day and Upcoming Sesshin
Dear friends,
In this busy season, perhaps we should pause to note that today, Dec. 8, is celebrated in our Mahayana tradition as the customarily observed date of the historical Buddha’s enlightenment. “Wonder of wonders, all beings are Buddha!” he is said to have exclaimed at the moment of his awakening.
We are the truth we seek! Could today be the day of our own deep awakening? Why not…
On a more mundane note, here are two other calendar dates that might be of interest:
• The annual Open Board Meeting will be held Jan. 9, 2022 after the regular sitting. Traditionally the meeting has included a delicious potluck luncheon and much spirited socializing and we hope to follow that tradition.
• A three-day sesshin has been scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 24, through Sunday, Feb. 27. We hope that Roshi Lawson Sachter will be here in person to lead it. But if not, we will plan to arrange a Zoom link for his online participation.
I hope you are well, enjoying the season and will join our Sunday service or evening sits.
You see, we are full of hope.
In gassho,
Jeff George
